Secret VS Real
The Capped Crusader, The Boy Wonder, The Masked Avenger, Clark Kent. Do you know what all of
these have in common? They’re all secret identities! But if you’re reading this, you knew that already.
In life we all have to wear the mask, and be vigilant to keep secure so that our true selves are not to ever be seen. It’s the curse of being human with each and every thing we do we make a new mask and a new identity and with each mask we are reborn into a new being. Yes, it is not always a superhero masks, becoming Batman on the fly and return to average Joe pedestrian the next, but it does assist the innocent, in this case, our self.
Take this to heart; When you’re at work are you the same as you are when at home alone? When you’re at home, do you act the same way with your friends? How bout your parents? Et cetera, the point to this is that within each of these situations we are setting out our new mask, donning each to set up for the next situation that will come to pass.
We protect these masks and usually panic when we have to combine them, but we do it so fast and so flawlessly that unless someone points it out, then It comes out without a problem. Like a Rorschach painting, we see the world in any shape or form that ‘we’ see it, and it is rare that anyone next to us can see our world and if they were to ever see it, the chances of them going insane is pretty high.

(What do you think he sees?)
I don't think we put on a different mask every time we enter a new situation. I think it's more of a how we act in a situation. There's a time a place for a way a person should act. Is that putting on a different mask? I think not. I often use sarcasm, but would I use sarcasm at work? No. But would I use it with family and friends? Yes.
ReplyDeleteMaybe we're thinking a little differently, but I feel like putting on a mask would completely chance your personality.
This is true, but the idea is that certain ways you might act at work (language, body language, attitude, etc.) might be different than how you would normally act at home. The more we act distinctly in different situations, the more we start to develop a kind of identity that is connected to those situations.
