reflection 5

Okay, this one is a tad tricky to talk about but it focuses on our current reading, which asks us to speak on our moments with creativity. Although mine is a tad hard to believe, at one time I was a scrawny little runt that barely came up to people chests and, as most people know, the classic runty nerd usually gets picked on, especially when hes sitting happily reading the latest issue of Sonic with a Digimon  backpack (for those unfamiliar with Digimon, understand that its Pokemon’s older nerdy brother). After a good two years of getting beat up and earning my tell-tale mark on my nose, (and skipping the learning to fight montage) I started realizing something interesting, that if I could outsmart the people who beat me up each and every day I could easily survive a day without throwing a punch. This is also around the time I had to learn how to take my aggression out on things other than people, which is where a teacher gave me the idea of filtering it through my work and art, thus my career as building props began.  Throughout these years , and the better half of my life, I kept building and writing trough the pain and suffering these people put me through and was still able to put up a pretty decent front as well as master a few crafts along the way. Mind you this is the short version of my childhood but I rather keep the facts I skipped , skipped. As for a character role model, I would have to say my  idol for creativity was John Constantine. Though , non-superhero wise, I would have to say Miles Prower hands down, in the case of the class , Constantine has always been a close second (The punisher and Max Payne being very close ties for third) . For those who do not know, Constantine is an aging master warlock who chain smokes and lives  n a little town in the middle of B.F Chicago . What makes him interesting is the fact that he rarely uses his powers, relying heavily on his wit and creativity to see him through.

Rorschach s journal...

The “fiction-suit” me is a tad tricky to explain but I Feel that I would be in a jazz club speaking between Rorschach and Constantine . Through all the scenarios I Played throughout my mind I could not find a single moment where I would need saving by either of these men, but, to listen to the chain-smoking, sting-esque magician and the man looks at the outside looking in  would be a very intriguing exchange.

Continuing to the second part, I am sorry to say that I can not answer this part with  all due respect. I was raised to squander such emotions to a degree, but show my appreciations in other ways, something I do on a daily basis as is when I am near any of my friends or allies. To do so otherwise would be quite uncomfortable for me to be quite honest . I apologize for this weeks post, but , as stated, there is little I can do to this one

hero of the week

(before I Fully start I want to apologize for the lateness of this article; I thought I pressed publish but i pressed save instead anyway, enjoy)

Hey all! As professor H has given us a freebie, I figured it would be fu8n to start a hero of the week sort of deal. It may be constant and (hopefully) will be interesting, so forgive me if these are short and a bit one sided !

This week’s hero is somewhat of an unsung hero, who’s name alone says what he does. I am of course talking about Kick-Ass
Kick-ass  did not start like other hero’s out there, no one murdered his parents in a dark alley, he doesn’t come from a rich home, he doesn’t even have super powers.  He’s a superhero who grew up wondering why there were no real superheroes in the world and decided to make a serious change in this issue. Before I continue I will not be using the movie “kick-ass” as a reference as that is a toned down version of the comics  and , quite frankly, I prefer the way the comics flow, so if you become confused, swing by your local comic shop and pick this gem up.

Before I get off track , kick-ass kills off practically all notions the golden age set out to place. What I mean is this; every super hero started with a key element, superman is the last survivor of Krypton, Batman’s parents were killed and so on and so on. In  way , Kick-ass does this but fuses the aspects of each hero into a new strange form where he forms a new comic age in his own series; the “garbage-heap” era (he says something else so this is a modified quote if you catch my drift)

I can He creates a whole new world, a world where comic books play such a key role that heroes (and later, villains ) are spawned out of this, none of which with super powers of course. When  I read through this, I originally felt such distaste for it that I was a tad insulted, given the fact that costumed heroes walking across the street is something I tend to see a lot as a cosplayer and a commissioner, so I when scenes such as a mass of women pick on kick-ass for wearing his costume and the world looking down on him for his choice, it just slightly grazed a nerve, but , as the story goes on , I see the heroes making a difference, the community looking up to them, and finally, a tad bit of respect going to the fact that they ARE still human. So I saw a future I could respect , something I could look forward to.

Secret Vs Real

Secret VS Real

The Capped Crusader, The Boy Wonder, The Masked Avenger, Clark Kent. Do you know what all of
these have in common? They’re all secret identities! But if you’re reading this, you knew that already.

In life we all have to wear the mask, and be vigilant to keep secure so that our true selves are not to ever be seen. It’s the curse of being human with each and every thing we do we make a new mask and a new identity and with each mask we are reborn into a new being. Yes, it is not always a superhero masks, becoming Batman on the fly and return to average Joe pedestrian the next, but it does assist the innocent, in this case, our self.

Take this to heart; When you’re at work are you the same as you are when at home alone? When you’re at home, do you act the same way with your friends? How bout your parents? Et cetera, the point to this is that within each of these situations we are setting out our new mask, donning each to set up for the next situation that will come to pass.

We protect these masks and usually panic when we have to combine them, but we do it so fast and so flawlessly that unless someone points it out, then It comes out without a problem. Like a Rorschach painting, we see the world in any shape or form that ‘we’ see it, and it is rare that anyone next to us can see our world and if they were to ever see it, the chances of them going insane is pretty high.

(What do you think he sees?)
